A duplex is a home spread over two levels connected by an internal staircase, usually within an apartment building. This layout directly affects the EPC calculation.
Unlike a standard single-level apartment, a duplex often has more heat-loss surfaces (roof if on the top floor, more exterior walls).
The auditor must measure and inspect both levels separately: roof insulation if the duplex is on the top floor, internal staircase, and all rooms on both floors. Allow 60 to 90 minutes depending on floor area.
